ABSTRACT

Most readers see literature only from the point of view of its entertaining quality. In this article we intend to show that the role of the writer is not just that of entertaining the readers, but to a large extent a very useful agent in the total development of humanity in general. He should; through his literary works be able to bring the necessary transformations which are capable of bringing about the needed improvement of human condition in all its ramifications. As a result, he should through his creative ability, create literary works that address the sociopolitical needs of the society thereby contributing to national development.
