The main purpose of the study was to analyze the effect of grammatical errors committed by student teachers on learning English language. Normative survey method was adopted. One hundred (100) senior secondary school students and twenty (20) student teachers took part in the study. The researchers developed a questionnaire comprising of 120 multiple choice questions. Scoring key for the items of questionnaire was prepared. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistics (Mean and Standard deviation) and inferential analysis (t-test and F-test). Based on the findings, suggestions and relevant recommendations were made.

ABSTRACT

The study appraised the functionality, adequacy and use of ICT tools to enhance web-based learning in Benue State University, Makurdi. The population of the study included undergraduate students in the Benue State University, Makurdi. Simple random sampling was used in selecting the respondents. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study, with a total population of 18, 729 students. A sample size of 375 students was used. The instrument for data collection was questionnaire. In analyzing the data, frequency table and simple percentage were used. The findings, revealed that, ICT tools in the Benue State university were functional but grossly adequate. The study equally brought to bear that the use of ICT tools enhances WBL in minimal ways such as accessing the Internet, doing assignments via web platforms, and browsing web-based materials. Poor Internet connectivity and inadequate ICT tools posed a major challenge to engaging ICTs in web-based learning. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the services of more maintenance engineers should be engaged to ensure constant functionality of ICT tools by checking, repairing and servicing them. Provisions should be made by the university management for yearly deployment of ICT tools. Web experts should be invited during orientation exercises to expose students to the functionalities of web-based learning and how they can maximally benefit from it, and investment in sound internet connectivity should be prioritized by both government and the university management.

ABSTRACT

This study identified competencies required by agricultural education lecturers in bee keeping for effective teaching of bee production in tertiary institutions in South-Eastern States of Nigeria, namely Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo. Four research questions were posed to guide the study and four hypotheses formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design was used for the study. The population for the study was 311. The entire population was used for the study because of the manageable size. Bee production item questionnaire made up of 54 competencies was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by three experts. Cronbach Alpha reliability method was used to determine the internal consistency of the instrument. A Cronbach Alpha coefficient of 0.74 was obtained. Three hundred and eleven copies of the questionnaire were administered to the respondents by the researchers with the help of three research assistants. All the administered copies of the questionnaire were retrieved and analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t – test. The researcher observed that agricultural education lecturers required 18 competencies in planning, 19 competencies required in site
selection and construction of beehives for bee production and 17 competencies required in harvesting and marketing of Bee production. It was recommended among others that the identified competencies be used by the agricultural education lecturers in teaching bee production to tertiary institution students.

ABSTRACT

A good number of information systems have been designed for use in modern organizations. These information systems perform different functions depending on the needs and objectives of the organization which provides a firm with competitive products and services that give strategic advantages over its competitors. This can reinforce a firm to survive and succeed in the long run in the market. Today, organizations use a variety of information systems such as transaction processing systems (TPS) to record
the daily routine transactions necessary for the conduct of the business, office automation systems (OAS) to perform office task effectively, management information systems (MIS) to Provide information in the
form of pre specified reports and displays to support business decision making, decision support system (DSS) to support unstructured and semi-structured decision making, executive information systems (EIS)
that support top managers in decision making, Expert System (ES) that performs the jobs of human experts etc. Each plays a different role in organization’s hierarchy and management operations. This study attempts
to review the role of different information system (IS) in modern organizations.

ABSTRACT

This study examined factors influencing users’ satisfaction with e-payment system in Nigerian universities. A descriptive survey design was employed and a conceptual model was constructed using extended TAM theoretical model with the inclusions of perceived speed, ease of payment, perceived compatibility, perceived convenience, perceived trust and safe to use. An incidental random sampling technique was used to select two hundred respondents from each university making a total of one thousand. The items for each construct were adapted from the previous validated constructs in literatures with little modification to suit the objectives of the study. Ten hypotheses were formulated for the study and data collected were analyzed using stepwise regression analysis at 0.05 level of significant. The results of the study showed that all the ten independent variables significantly influence users’ satisfaction with e-payment system while ease of payment made the most significant influence on users’ satisfaction with e-payment system. Therefore, the providers of the service should organized awareness campaigns to the potential users properly and emphasize the ease of use of e-payment services to them. Also, when designing e-payment applications the designer should make sure that the end product is robust, fast, easily accessible 24/7 and affordable to the users. Service providers must ensure that their system is reliable, free of technical errors, and highly responsive to users’ enquires or any problems that might arise. And finally, service providers should increase services’ security and reliability, reduce transaction errors, and protect consumers’ privacy.

ABSTRACT

This paper assessed the provision and utilization of human resources for UBE programme in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The paper covered provision and utilization of qualified teachers,
supervisors, messengers, cleaners and security personnel for UBE programme. Descriptive survey method was adopted as methodology of the research. The population of the research consists of sixty two (62)
primary schools and head teachers, one thousand four hundred and fifty (1450) teachers, forty three (43) LGEA Officials and three hundred and seventy two (372) PTA Officials. Six primary schools (6) and head
teachers, twenty (20) LGEA Officials, twelve (12) PTA Officials and one hundred and twelve (112) teachers were sampled out of the entire population. Data was collected through the use of Likert Five Point Scale
Questionnaire. The data was analyzed through One Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The hypothesis testing shows f- ratio value (3.23) at 3 DF 80 and at the level 0.05. The critical value (3.23) is less
than f. ratio values (3.191). The probability level of significance P (.028) is less than 0.05. This means that there is a significant difference in the opinion of LGEA officials head teacher, teacher and PTA officials on
the provision and utilization of human resource. Therefore, the null hypothesis is rejected. It was concluded that the objectives of UBE can better be achieved through adequate provision and proper utilization of
human and material resources. It therefore, recommended that: The government should provide adequate qualified teachers and also seminars, in-service training and workshops should be organized for teachers by
the appropriate authorities to improve competence and productivity. Adequate security facilities should be provided in primary schools to enable the school administrators keep those materials from damaging and
attack of thieves. The government should ensure strict monitoring and supervision of school administrators by the required supervisory authorities on the management of fund meant for purchasing and maintenance of instructional materials so as to avoid mishandling of such funds through diverting it to other expenditures within the school or elsewhere. All major stakeholders in educatio(parents, community leaders, nongovernmental organization NGOs) and the private sectors should assist the government through mobilization of resources for providing, maintaining and improving the nine year universal basic education programme for future generation.
