ABSTRACT

In a sample of 288 workers and training professionals who have participated in training programmes in the last five years in Ogun South-western Nigeria, the study adopts a descriptive survey research method to investigate the importance of feedback system in training programmes. Two set of questionnaires were designed for both trainers and trainees. The reliability tests of the instruments were obtained through Cronbach alpha methods and yielded reliability co-efficient of 0.82 and 0.72 for trainers and trainees respectively. Purposive and simple random sampling techniques were adopted in selecting the participants from university staff and secondary schools teachers. Frequency Count, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation, t-test and Ranking Statistics were used for data analysis. Findings demonstrate that feedback system significantly correlates with training effectiveness and especially in the area of setting training objective. The study raised useful recommendations to stakeholders in staff training and development.
